Emergency Communications

In the event of an emergency, critical accident, illness or death in a service member's immediate family, the American Red Cross should be called at once.

The American Red Cross is the only agency authorized and equipped to verify the situation and then forward the information to the proper military authorities.

Should an emergency leave request be necessary, the information provided by the Red Cross is used by the commanding officer so that a decision as whether or not to grant leave may be made.
